'Burning Paradise' author Terry Hughes upcoming events

Spokane-based author Terry Hughes has several events coming up in January and February.  He continues to promote his debut novel "Burning Paradise."  He is also conducting interviews as part of his research for his next book.

On Friday, January 13 Hughes will be at the Moose Murals and Art Gallery in Loon Lake, Washington.

According to a press release from his publisher Gray Dog Press, "[From] 10 a.m. to noon Terry will conduct a seminar titled The Art of Writing for the Ink Slingers, a writers' workshop."

The press release adds that there is a $5 cover charge.  However, appetizers will be served during the event and there will be a social hour when the seminar is concluded.

Moose Murals and Art Gallery is located at 3950 3rd Avenue in Loon Lake, Washington.  For more information, please call (509) 233-8421.

On Saturday, January 14 Hughes will be at the Hastings Entertainment on Wellesley with fellow Gray Dog Press author Joan Kopczynski.  Kopczynski wrote the critically acclaimed memoir "Spies, Lies & Psychosis."  According to the GDP website, the book chronicles some of her experiences as an administrative assistant for the CIA during the 1970s and her struggles with bi-polar schizoaffective disorder.

Next month, Hughes will be in Ellensburg, Washington to promote "Burning Paradise", his suspense novel about a serial arsonist running amok in a quiet oceanside community.

According to Jennifer Lakey of Gray Dog Press, "Terry Hughes, author of the novel Burning Paradise, will be at Jerrol's Books on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.  He will be signing his novel, and discussing arson and arson investigation.

"Terry is a former volunteer fire chief in Santa Barbara, California, and was there when the infamous Painted Cave Arsonist burned down almost five hundred homes in one fire.  Burning Paradise is based on three different fire departments' response to the blaze, and on the arson investigator who is hot on the arsonist's trail.  The whole city lies awake at night, afraid to go to sleep.  The arsonist calls himself Smoke, and Smoke is everywhere, seemingly at once.

"Terry will be spending the following Sunday interviewing jurors who served on the Federal conviction of Spokane police officer Karl Thompson for the use of excessive force and for lying to Federal officials for contributing to the death of Otto Zehm, an innocent man.  The name of his work in progress is Behind A Dark Blue Badge, and Terry invites anyone who may know of this incident to come by Jerrol's and say hello."

Jerrol's Books and Office Supply Company is located at 111 East University Way in Ellensburg, Washington.  For more information, please call (509) 925-9851.

"Burning Paradise" is available now from Spokane's own Gray Dog Press.  An ebook edition is offered on the Hastings Entertainment website and the print edition may be ordered from Barnes and Noble.  The book is also available at Auntie's Bookstore in downtown Spokane, for those who would prefer to support a locally owned business.
