One week later, Black Rock City citizens participate in the Night of the Burn - and then depart leaving no trace.
Burning Man traditionally starts on the Sunday before and ends on the day of Labor Day.

2011 Burning Man Art Theme - Rites of Passage
"There are moments of crisis and frisson in our lives which inform us that we've somehow crossed an inner threshold and are changed. Thus moving from one state of being into an unknown other is not a facile transformation; it obliges us to face our innermost insecurities, and it requires faith, a willingness to leap off the ladder of ordered existence. Our theme this year invites participants to join with others in creating rites of passage." __Burning Man website.
:Over the past two decades, the Burning Man festival has established itself as one of the world's hippest and most mind-blowing gatherings. Not quite an art festival, not quite a desert rave, not quite a social experiment, but something of all three, the event is a week-long celebration of free-form creativity and radical self-expression held each summer in Nevada's Black Rock Desert." __Scott London
