Burleson Events for January 28 - February 3

On Monday January 28, the Knitting/Crocheting Group will be meeting for the first time at Russell Farm. The farm is located at 405 W Country Rd. 604 and will meet at the Chesapeake Building every third Monday from now on.

You are free to bring your own work or help make blankets for the Knit for Fistula Blanket Project or other options. The blankets are to be presented to women in Ethiopia who are having extreme labor difficulties and aren’t able to see a doctor. These blankets are to be delivered to Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia to help ease their hospital stay.

The Monday Night Book Discussion Group will meet at the Burleson Library 248 S W Johnson Ave in Burleson January 28 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The book to be discussed will be ‘A Prayer for Owen Meany’ by John Irving. A Little Leaguer hits a foul ball that results in the death of his best friend’s mother. Owen Meany thinks it happened for a reason that it was part of God’s plan.

On Tuesday January 29, the Wellness for Life mammogram screening will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary 108 E Hammond St. Fort Worth.

These exams are given during the month of January to women 35 and older who are uninsured and live in the counties of Tarrant, Parker, Hood and Johnson. You are asked to make an appointment by calling Harris Well Care Center at 1-877-847-9335. This service is promoted by St. Joseph Health Care Affiliate and funded by the Susan B. Komen Tarrant County Affiliate.

On Tuesday January 29, the Teem Gaming Society will meet at the Burleson Library 248 S W Johnson Ave from 5-6 p.m. This free event is open to teens 12-18 years only. The contact person is Mat and you may e-mail him or call 817-426-9205.

This is an initial session in which you will learn the ABC’s of role-playing. You will hear about the games out there and choose a character from one of those games.
