Burke and Stevens hit home runs as Maine gets swept by BYU

Jean Stevens had three hits including a home run and three RBI in two games on Thursday for the University of the Maine Black Bears softball team.

Maine fell twice to the Brigham Young Cougars.

Jessica Burke hit a two run homer for the Black Bears in a 6-4 game one loss to the Cougars. Stephanie Wood had three hits from the number nine spot in the batting order for Maine.

The Black Bears had 10 hits in game one including two from Stevens.

In game two, the Cougars scored one run during the seventh inning to escape with a 3-2 victory.

Stevens hit a two run homer during the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Black Bears their only runs of the game.

Maine (1-13) will play two more games at Clearwater, Florida on Friday afternoon.

The Black Bears will take on Tennessee Tech at 2:30 and Youngstown State at 4:45 p.m.
