A burglary suspect was shot to death and an officer wounded late Saturday afternoon in Gwinnett County.
Still, police said the suspect was also involved in a stabbing.

At 4:06 p.m., officers responded to 3668 Willow Wood Way near Lawrenceville after getting a 911 call about a stabbing, according to Gwinnett County police.

But when officers arrived there was no victim or suspect at the scene.

At 4:10 p.m., officers received a call about a burglary in progress call at 3849 Smokemist Trace about three blocks away from the scene of the stabbing, officials said.

The officers responded and the homeowners allowed them inside.

“During a check of the residence, shots were fired,” police said. “As a result, one male died and one officer was shot in the leg.”

A short time later, the stabbing victim returned to 3668 Willow Wood Way and was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Witnesses told police the suspect was attending a party at the Willow Wood Way home when the victim was stabbed.

So far, police don’t know the motive.

The suspect fled the scene and ended up at Smokemist Trace home where the front door was kicked in.

So far, police have not released the name of the suspect or the victim who was stabbed. The victim was listed in stable condition at the hospital.

Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
