With every passing day, Napa gets closer to being BurgerFied. In fact, the BurgerFication of Napa, especially downtown Napa, is all but inevitable at this point. The new BurgerFi building, located at 967 First Street at the foot of the First Street Bridge, is rapidly taking shape, and the better than average burger joint menu will soon be unleashed upon Napkins. With this being the case, perhaps you would like to know what said menu has to offer and what makes it better than average.
BurgerFi is looking to change the way Napa and the rest of America eats with their combination of natural Angus burgers, hotdogs, fresh cut sides, fresh made custards, craft beers, unique wines and specialty beverages. Of the burger portion of this menu, there’s a couple choices that really stand out. One is the “Breakfast All Day Burger” which is made up of and Angus beef patty, American cheese, hickory bacon drizzled with maple syrup, a fried egg, hash browns, grilled diced onions and ketchup. It’ll be interesting to see how this beast of a breakfast burger stacks up against the absolutely amazing and positively messy “Breakfast Kobe Burger” from the Kitchen Door which is just down the street. The other burger that sounds too good to be true is the “Brisket Burger.” This is another hybrid that incorporates familiar flavors, the likes of which have been luring people to old school delicatessens for the last century. It is a stack of two natural 28 day aged ground brisket patties, Swiss cheese, blue cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and BurgerFi’s special sauce. I’m pretty sure this will be the first one I try as soon as this place opens.
At the other end of the menu, there’s two items that aren’t particularly common on the west coast, but more than likely will be soon: Custards and Concretes. These two frozen treats are closely related and, if you happen to be from the east coast, are generally wicked awesome. Frozen custards come in a variety of consistencies and are similar to soft serve ice cream. Custard can be served as a shake, sundae or cone depending on its temperature making it a very versatile frozen treat. In order to be considered custard, the concoction must contain at least 10% butterfat and 1.4% egg yolk. The end result is silky smooth, creamy, and quite substantial. Concretes are built using the aforementioned custard as a tasty base with various yummy bits layered and/or mixed in and usually require a spoon for consumption on all but the hottest of days. Both of these ought to be a tasty summer treat.
