Now here’s a music festival that you can really take a bite out of: The Fifth Annual Burger Boogaloo slated to take place in Mosswood Park in Oakland, California on July 5-6. The Burger Boogaloo is actually named after Burger Records, the folks who put the festival together, but amusingly many of the acts scheduled to appear have food-related names: Shannon & The Clams, Bananas, Honey Power, The Terry Malts, Chad & The Meatbodies and, playing on the West Coast for the first time ever, New York-based punk outfit Milk 'N' Cookies.
Ronnie Spector, lead singer of '60s girl group The Ronettes (“Be My Baby,” “Walking in the Rain”) will headline Burger Boogaloo. Also on the bill are Nobunny, Wand, Reigning Sound, The Muffs, The Trashies, Russel Quan, Danny James, La Sera, Tina “Boom Boom” Lucchesi, Summer Twins, White Fang, Phantom Surfers and Juan Wauters. Additional acts will be announced soon.
Burger Boogaloo claims to offer one of the least-expensive weekends of music happening this summer; tickets are $35 for one day or $50 for a weekend pass. Tickets are available now at the Burger Boogaloo website.
