On February 17th Bungie, the makers of the acclaimed Halo series, unveiled their new game, Destiny, that seems to have a very impressive reception. Right around the 13th and 14th, the Facebook page for Destiny boomed with likes.
The page jumped from about 10,000 likes on the 12th, to 20,000 on the 13th. As of the 17th's release, the page stands at circa 79,000 like, with over 13,000 people talking about Destiny. The page itself was established on November 14th, and nearly three months later have had a major release of information. Bungie's Destiny seems exceptionally promising.
The official site has four teaser concept pictures and a "ViDoc" (video document or documentary) that provide a fair amount of insight.
Destiny is a first person shooter that will have Single Player, Co-op, and Multiplayer game modes. In the ViDoc Project Director Jason Jones explained that the team building the game wishes to expand on the game to include a larger social experience.
The story is set far into the future with the arrival of the Traveler, a massive sphere that has come to Earth and granted humanity a golden age. Humans started to quickly expand into the solar system, but their golden age didn't last. "Something" as Jones worded it, "knocked them down."
The player is a Guardian, a defender of the very last human city, and he/she must venture out into the unknown ruins of civilization and fight strange and mysterious creatures.
There is no set release date or even a year. It may be concluded that Destiny could come out in either 2014 or 2015.
