Bungie teased Destiny in 2009 with Halo 3: ODST

Bungie's upcoming game for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and next-gen consoles, Destiny, experienced a massive leak of story details and concept art on Tuesday. Not long afterwards, one incredibly astute fan spotted recalled a very telling reference from Halo 3: ODST.

The Halo 3: ODST image shared on Reddit by "PlainBen" shows a simple piece of in-game artwork that was likely passed unnoticed by the majority of players. The sign features a picture of the Earth with the text "Destiny Awaits" above it. While this is an obvious clue, even more telling is the white circle hovering at the top right of the planet.

Following yesterday's leak of Destiny concept art and story details, this white dot is likely the "massive, mysterious alien ship" known as "the Traveller."

Bungie is known for placing easter eggs in its games. This may be one of the more surprising ones ever discovered as it was made after the developer had split from Microsoft as a first-party developer and was clearly already planning its Destiny post-Halo.
