Bungie finally reveals their upcoming game, ‘Destiny' (Photos)

Bungie has officially revealed their next game in a video documentary released today. As part of a 10 year contract between the original developer’s of the Halo franchise and Activistion, “Desinty” is described as a social first-person shooter that will feature cooperative and competitive gameplay that is said to keep gamers interested in the game and keep them player for hundreds of hours over multiple years.

The video describes the futuristic setting of “Destiny” in which a mysterious giant orb from space hurdled towards the earth but stopped in its tracks before colliding with the planet. Now the sphere continues to hover slightly above the world in a constant state. This still caused devastation but humanity soon rebuilt itself and constructed a grand city in the showdown of the sphere. Then the alien races landed on earth and want in to earth’s giant, fortified city built under the mysterious sphere.

This is where they players story begins in Bungie’s upcoming game. They will start as a soldier of earth’s city, guarding it from alien attack. These special guardians have somehow managed to wield the alien’s strange new powers that they have introduced to earth.

Bungie claims that “Destiny” will take on a life of its own. The game has been announced for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, no word has been given on whether the title will appear on next generation consoles or not.
