Tyson Green provided more information regarding the leveling and experience point systems in the upcoming “Destiny” video game that will be release for multiple systems. In an interview with Game Informer on Dec. 27, the investment lead at Bungie revealed that players will be able to improve several aspects to their characters.
The armor, focus ability and weapons can all be upgraded in the shared-world first-person shooter. Armor can gain experience points when the player wear the protection during combat. Getting kills will also build up the weapons. Finally, the focus ability increases with every slaying along with the completion of several other activities. You can take a look at “Destiny” in the slideshow gallery to the left of this article as well as the details on the leveling and experience points systems from Tyson Green below (courtesy of Game Informer):
The three things that all characters can upgrade are their weapons, their armor, and their focus. Those all level up as you use them. So when you’re wearing your armor and earning experience your armor’s leveling up. When you’re using weapons to get kills, those specific weapons are leveling up. And your focus also levels up when you’re getting kills or completing activities.
Although “Destiny” has several massively multiplayer elements, the development team at Bungie is not willing to refer to the new video game as an MMO due to the negative connotations. The new intellectual property does not come with a subscription fee requirement although it does need a constant internet connection.
The release date for “Destiny” is set for Sept. 9, 2014, on the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms. A multiplayer beta should be arriving next summer.
