Let me start by asking a question... Have you or anyone you know ever lost anything like keys, a smartphone, sunglasses or a wallet?
I have, and likely your answer is yes, and likely you know what a pain in the butt it is to lose something of value.
Buying a new phone is expensive, losing your keys can be a problem on so many fronts, and losing a wallet can be disastrous.
In short, losing something of value can be costly and just a real inconvenience.
Enter Bungeetags.
Bungeetags from Bungee Virtual Lost+Found is can help alleviate this problem with technology and a simple sticker tag.
Have a look at this this video (https://vimeo.com/56777337) as it will give you an explanation of this new service and how it can work for you and your valuables. Bungee is new and very affordable product that allows owners to anonymously link valuable property to their cell phone and email with a sticker. If an item is found, the technology allows a safe and a real-time text conversation between the owner and the finder so that a return can be arranged. In the case of a missing cell phone, Bungee will also work through email.
How does this high tech lost and found work?
Bungee explains it.
The system is activated by sending a simple text message and works instantly to place the the owner and finder in a live anonymous conversation so that retrieval arrangements can be made immediately. This has not been done before. The easier and faster it is to do the right thing, the more likely it is that the person will take action. It is the simplicity, speed, and direct live conversation which makes Bungee different and innovative.
In an attempt to raise additional funds for growth the team from Bungee has launched a campaign through Indiegogo. Whether Bungee succeeds, is not dependent on how much is raised through Indiegogo.
“We have tested Bungee all over the U.S. I even dropped a set of keys in the middle of Manhattan on New Year’s Eve and at around 1 AM received a text message saying that my keys had been found and within minutes I had them in my hand,” said Bryan Davis, co-founder of Bungee. “Bungee only costs $25 for lifetime coverage. Think about it, over the course of your life lets say you lose a $300 item and when returned Bungee will have paid for itself 12 times over. Not only in dollars, but in time, data retrieval, frustration… you get the point.”
The service is available to consumers through the company’s website. Each Bungee pack includes 11 Bungeetags to protect valuable items. Service availability includes – 1 year of Coverage, $10 or Lifetime Coverage, $25. A great deal for what this could end of saving you.
“The service is simple and affordable and while it makes a lot of sense for the everyday consumer, it is also highly relevant in B2B applications,” said AJ Bontempo, co-founder of Bungee. “We also designed the technology as a white label system. Insurance companies striving to drive down the cost of lost item claims, corporations seeking to improve loss prevention strategies, OEMs looking to add an additional layer of service and security and many others will benefit from Bungee.”
What do I think of this product and service?
I like it, and like potential.
Bungee says that there are real B2B and B2C possibilities they are exploring.
These would include luggage, bag and wallet manufacturers, eyewear makers and even insurance companies. I like the "student" market. This would of course include high school and college students, but also younger kids as they are now carrying around devices of their own, as well.
Maybe even for college kids, the blue color of the stickers and info card could be replaced by the school's colors to denote that the device belongs to a college kid.
This is a product that doesn't take up any shelf space and I could see it on a peg right alongside gift cards at Walmart and Target.
Detractors I talked with say there are too many working parts here that need to work in tandem to make this whole process work and have the device returned to the owner.
I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt, and feel that the average person living in America is honest. Also they are probably a gadget or computer owner themselves and they would want their device returned if lost.
Give Bungee a try, you don't have anything to lose and your chances of getting your lost item back go up.
