Bumbershoot, the music and arts festival that takes place on Labor Day weekend at the 74-acre Seattle Center, has unveiled a new pricing scheme for their 2010 festival. Following fan feedback on the wristband system they've used in recent years to limit access to the Main Stage, the festival will be testing a two-tier system this year.
The Bumbershoot Standard Ticket will allow fans access to all stages at this year's festival, including guaranteed access to the Main Stage. No more queuing for Main Stage passes in the rain - that has to be good news for everyone. Standard Tickets will cost $40 in advance, or $50 on the gate.
This year's innovation is the Bumbershoot Economy Ticket. The Economy Ticket will not allow access to the Main Stage, but will allow you to enjoy everything else that the festival has to offer. Economy Tickets will cost $22 in advance, or $30 on the gate.
As always, children under ten years old enjoy free admission to the festival. Please note, however, that this free admission will not include entry to the Main Stage area.
Having started as the Mayor's Art Festival in 1971, Bumbershoot is now fast approaching its fortieth year. Combining live music, film, theater, books, food, and the infamous Rockstar Vert Ramp, the three-day festival is one of the largest of its kind in North America.
This year's festival will be held on September 4-6 at the Seattle Center. For details of last year's events, including reviews and photo diaries, check out our Bumbershoot 2009 coverage.
