The Bulls released rookie power forward Erik Murphy on Thursday.
Murphy was selected with the 49th overall in the second round and appeared in 24 games this season and finishing with averages of 0.3 points in 2.6 minutes.
The move leaves the team with just 12 players and opens up a spot for a veteran heading into the playoffs.
Veteran guard Ronnie Brewer worked out for the Bulls on Thursday. Brewer played for the team during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons. He was released by the Houston Rockets on Feb. 22.
A signing of Brewer would give the team some added depth at the wing position and a player that is familiar with coach Tom Thibodaeu's defensive schemes. It will also probably mean a more diminished role for rookie Tony Snell.
