Bulls get Deng back but lose Hinrich

The good news for the Bulls is they get Luol Deng back after the small forward has sat the last four games with a sore left Achilles. The bad news for the team is that Kirk Hinrich will miss Saturday’s game vs. the Toronto Raptors with a sore back.

“He just said it stiffened up on him,” coach Tom Thibodeau said. “Hopefully it won’t last long.”

Marquis Teague will get the start in Hinrich’s absence. Hinrich had been averaging 39 minutes per night in the month of December. He played 36 minutes in Friday night's win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

This will be the 10th different starting lineup the Bulls (9-12) have used this season

“The next guy get in there, get the job done,” Thibodeau said. “I felt good about what D.J. (Augustin) did yesterday. Marquis has had some good games for us. Getting Jimmy (Butler) back was a big plus. We gotta be ready.”

Thibodeau also noted that the Bulls are keeping sets “basic” for Augustin right now, which could be a prime reason why Teague gets the start over Augustin’s former club.
