The Bulls assigned second-year point guard Marquis Teague to the Iowa Energy on Thursday.
It’s the second assignment for the 20 year old Teague, who was recalled the same day (Dec. 3) he was sent to the NBA’s Developmental League because of an injury to Mike James.
Teague has appeared in 19 games for the Bulls (two starts) this season and is averaging 2.4 points , 1.5 assists and 1.0 rebound in 12.7 minutes per game.
With Hinrich returning on Christmas from a back injury that sidelined him the previous five games, and D.J. Augustin giving them solid contributions, it made sense to send Teague to the D-League, where he could get immediate playing time and to build the confidence that seems to be lacking when he sees the floor for the Bulls.
Teague was selected by the Bulls with the 29th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft after helping lead the University of Kentucky to a NCAA championship along with the first pick in that year’s draft, New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis.
