A bullied boy dies in a Penn. area hospital on the day after his 12th birthday. On March 4, Philly.com reported that the boy was taken off of life support on Sunday. Bailey O'Neill began having seizures after he was punched at school in January. He was put in a medically induced coma because the seizures were "violent."
O'Neill's parents feel as though his death is directly related to the bullying. When Bailey was punched at school, he suffered a broken nose and a concussion. While he was checked out by a doctor after the incident, his seizures started without warning and became very bad.
So the bullied boy dies while the "bullies" at school have not received any form of (serious) punishment. The police are conducting a full investigation and because Bailey has died, things could change. According to the report, the incident that harmed Bailey was recorded by surveillance cameras -- so there is a chance that the boys who bullied Bailey could be charged.
"No charges were ever filed, and officials never released details of the altercation, nor directly connected the seizures with the schoolyard incident. However, it is not clear whether the death could alter that," Philly.com reported.
Not long after the bullied boy died, a Facebook page was set up in his honor. "With the heaviest heart we want to inform you all that Bailey has gone to be with the Lord please, please, please continue to pray for his family and continue on this fight for us until no child ever has to face a situation like this again. God Bless You all thank you so much!" read an update on the new page.
