Bullied 11-year-old in coma after brutal fight at school

A bullied 11-year-old is in a coma after he was badly beaten by a classmate at school. The 11-year-old is a sixth-grader named Bailly O’Neil and he attends the Darby Township School in Pennsylvania.

A report from ABC News on Feb. 7 states that the boy was repeatedly punched in the face by a fellow student. The brutal attack left the boy with a fractured nose and he is now in a medically induced coma state.

The parents learned the boy suffered a concussion after bringing him to the hospital. However, the father noticed his son was acting strange after he was discharged. He told media sources,

“He was sleeping. He was moody. He wasn’t himself. He was angry a little bit. He wasn’t really eating.”

Following the father's realization, the boy started having seizures and he was put in a medically induced coma after being hospitalized again. The parents of the 11-year-old are obviously deeply saddened by the incident. His father said,

“Every day I’m trying to stay strong for him. When you get into that hospital room and you’re looking at him, I would trade places in a heartbeat. It’s my buddy, you know.”

The bully responsible for putting the 11-year-old in the coma was suspended for two days, however, police are gathering information to see if criminal charges will be filed.
