In a horrible turn of events, a brutal attack ended with an bullied 11-year old in coma in Pennsylvania. According to ABC News on Feb. 7, the boy, sixth grader named Bailey O'Neil, was in a fight four weeks ago with another student who struck him in the face numerous times. A blow to the nose took Bailey to the ground.
The attack left O'Neil with a concussion, and he received medical treatment. However, his dad said something was wrong with his son. His father said Bailey was angry, moody and wasn't eating much. Days later he had a seizure and went to the hospital. The doctors put the young boy into a medically induced coma for his own protection.
Bailey's dad said that he is trying to remain strong for his son, who has now been in a coma for two weeks. He said that he would trade places with his son in a second, and called Bailey his "buddy."
The school superintendent said they take bullying very seriously in their district and the investigation into the fight has been turned over to the police. He said they remain concerned about the poor 11-year old in a comas well-being, although the school only suspended the boy who struck him for two days following the attack.
