Bulletproof clothing ... latest in fashion?

[Thanks to marine Zephyr Black for his contribution]

It almost sounds like a joke, but designer Migeul Caballero has developed a line of bullet resistant clothing.  Mr. Caballero designed this line of clothing his native Columbia, where clients needed protection from drug cartel hit men .... But they would much rather prefer something stylish rather than bulky Kevlar.

In America, celebritiesstarted with his apparel;  Sean Combs had a bulletproof white dinner jacket; then tunics for the Wu Tang Clan, and for Steven Seagal, a kimono.

However, this isn't a fashion line exclusively for celebrities. One glance at his website shows there's something for every New Yorker; a firenze coat for women, a figure-hugging trench coats, or a Giorgo, in plaid.

Men have slightly more choices in Caballero's online catalogue: you want an Italian-leather motorcycle jacket? Or an outdoorsy Extrema jacket, which comes in Mars Red, Turkish Sea or Apricot Orange?  There are even t-shirts.

No, we're not joking. There are dress shirts, polo shirts and bulletproof hoodies.

If you want extra protection, try the armored blanket.

And, since winter is almost upon us, try the winter vest.

All of these outfits are lined with Kevlar-like material, with three levels of toughness: mild, medium, or "high."

In other words, you can have something that can stop a .9mm, a .357, or an Uzi barrage.

And, if you get shot in the first six months, your replacement purchase will be free.

That's one way to keep customers coming back.

However, there are no children's sizes.  Sorry.

Oh, and if you have a criminal record, don't bother.  They do background checks.

For the record, it should be highlighted: these are bullet resistant garments, not bulletproof.  Bulletproof is a misnomer. Should you want to buy one of these ... don't expect to pay a visit to downtown Kabul and expect to walk out alive ... though there are certain sections of the Bronx that carry similar risk.
