Originating from the United Kingdom, the Bulldog has won the hearts of the American public. The Bulldog has a mellow disposition and is an intelligent breed. He is a loyal companion to any family. They are great with kids and warm up to strangers quickly. They are gentile and seem to be wise beyond their years.


This loving breed spends his days cuddling, hiding toys and lounging around. Protective and well bonded to their owners, Bulldogs make the best pets. These social animals enjoy living in homes with multiple dogs.


Their small stature may surprise you, for Bulldogs are in the Non-sporting Mastiff group. They have compact muscular bodies weighing approximately 50 pounds for a male and 40 pounds for a female. Bulldogs top out between 12-15 inches.


These beautiful animals come with an array of coats including brindle, solid white, red, or fawn, or any of these on a white background. Their fur is straight, short, flat, close,fine, smooth and glossy.

The Bulldog should be brushed to remove dead hairs during shedding. The folds of the face need to be cleansed often. Lotion made specifically for a dog's face may be applied to the facial folds to keep clean. 

 


Bulldogs and all dogs require consistency in training, but an increase sensitivity to his or her owner's voice helps make the learning process quite easy. 

This breed can often develop breathing problems, skin infections, hip and knee problems. Proper diet, grooming and exercise over the course of a lifetime of your Bulldog can save your pet from these ailments. Two 45 minute walks are recommended daily.


This breed's best sense is definitely not their sight. Bulldogs suffer from poor vision and may also overheat easily if left in a hot room. So, AC is much appreciated. The Bulldog's life expectancy  8 Yrs.

 


Bulldogs are the perfect pet: small, strong and smart. Any owner will enjoy the company and friendship of a Bulldog.
