The Hamilton Bulldogs are taking part of their preseason act on the road.
The Montreal Canadiens announced on Wednesday that its AHL club will host the Binghamton Senators, AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators, in a pair of games to be held in Victoriaville and Drummondville, QC on Friday, Sept. 30 and Saturday, Oct. 1, respectively. The Victoriaville tilt is a 7:30 p.m. start at the Colisée Desjardins, home to the QMJHL’s Tigres, while the Drummondville contest goes at 7 p.m. at the Centre Marcel-Dionne, home of the Voltigeurs.
Tickets for both games are $15 (plus service charges) and go on sale on Saturday, Aug. 20 at noon.
Home game trips outside of Hamilton are nothing new for the Canadiens’ top affiliate. The Bulldogs have made a tradition out of at least one regular season visit to the Bell Centre. It has become a roaring success, with crowds topping 14,000.
With the games taking place near the end of the Habs’ preseason schedule, which wraps up on Oct. 1, the Bulldogs could be icing a near-full training camp roster. That group could include 2009 first-round draftee Louis Leblanc, who is set to make his pro debut this season. Leblanc underwent shoulder surgery in May and his recovery time was estimated at four to six months. He could be closer to the former, telling La Presse that he is skating and shooting already. He’ll meet with doctors at the end of August.
Fans wanting to attend can buy tickets one of three ways: at the respective arena’s box office; by phone at 1-877-545-3330 (Victoriaville) or 819-477-9400 (Drummondville); or online at www.reservatech.net (Victoriaville) orwww.ovation.qc.ca (Drummondville).
The Bulldogs’ 2011-12 schedule will be released on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 4 p.m. ET.
