The Bugatti Veyron runs a pathetic quarter mile against the BMW for $1.5M- watch the beemer and veyron battle it out on the quarter mile runway! Surprisingly the BMW can out launch the Bugatti Veyron in the video below. This race between a super car and luxury coupe is very interesting. Which one will win? The super car of course. But it does surprise me to see this 2008 BMW M3 on the E92 platform take the Veyron in the 1/8th mile.
Let's take a look at what counts.

2008 Bugatti Veyron

It's pretty obvious that the Bugatti Veyron is going to win. But by how much is what I find interesting. The BMW can actually contend with this vehicle in the short, immediate distance. This makes me question the actual speed of the Bugatti, and if it's really worth the base price of 1.5 million USD. With the Bugatti, you basically pay for crazy fast top end speed wrapped with luxury and prestige. The Veyron is not a quarter mile machine.
The best bang for your buck in the quarter mile is not what you think. It's not the traditional high priced exotic. Take into consideration the all-wheel drive models offered by Subaru and Mitsubishi. Two sedans, the Lancer Evolution and Impreza WRX-STi can be heavily modified to win against the Veyron for a fraction of the cost by running a record setting 7 second quarter mile. Read more about modifying imports to get exotic speed. Let's take a look at the race footage and then comment below your thoughts.

To be honest I've seen this video, and the Veyron is playing with the M3. The M3 runs a pathetic 12-13 second quarter mile while the Veyron has run a 9.9 stock. Sure a subaru or mitsubishi can be modded to run a quarter mile faster, but the engines have to have a million pounds of boost and they won't last more than 30 seconds with that boost. Those cars are not supercars, and never will be no matter how much horsepower you put in them. The veyron has the comfort and luxury of a Bentley, but not a single car stock can beat it in the quarter, or top speed, except the SSC, so, I think that says enough
im pretty sure the veyron gave the beemer a headstart
