"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actor Robin Sachs has died at the age of 61. Sachs played Ethan Rayne, an arch enemy of one of the other main characters, Giles.
According to MSN.com's report earlier on Feb. 6, there has yet to be a cause of death identified. In fact, a rep for Sachs told TheWrap that the actor had been in good health.
The news of Sach's death first arrived on Tuesday via his official website, where a statement said:
"It is with great sadness that we have to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Robin Sachs. Please join us in raising a glass to Robin -- goodbye, dear friend. Thank you for all the laughter and the cookies. We will miss you so very much."
Sachs only appeared in a total of four episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," but he had a memorable "friend-turned-foe" role which fans remember well. In addition to his work on "Buffy" he also had several roles on the TV series "Babylon 5," and played in the film "Galaxy Quest" opposite actor Tim Allen. Sachs also voiced a character in the "Mass Effect 2" and "Mass Effect 3" video games.
A memorial service for Robin Sachs is being planned in Los Angeles.
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" re-runs don't currently show on local Roanoke TV, but the episodes are available from popular video rental services such as Netflix, or as part of Amazon's online Prime Instant Video streaming service.
