Buffalo Warriors to hold open tryouts, announce venue for 2013 season

The Buffalo Warriors, slated to begin play in March in the newly formed IBA-PBL basketball league, will hold an open tryout this Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Tosh Collins Community Center, 212 Cazenovia St., Buffalo. Additionally, team owner Edward Bednarz will make a major announcement on Thursday, Jan. 17, regarding the team’s venue for 2013 home games.

Registration at the open tryout will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the audition beginning at 10 a.m. Participants should wear appropriate basketball attire. Overseeing the tryout will be Warriors head coach Patrick Fussell.

The announcement regarding the team’s venue will be made on WECK AM 1230 and FM 102.9 The Breeze. Bednarz and Fussell will appear from 8:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday on “Officially Yours,” hosted by Peter Calieri. It was announced earlier this week that The Breeze will broadcast all Warriors home games during the upcoming season.

The new IBA-PBL was formed following a merger between the Independent Basketball Association and the Premier Basketball League.
