Buffalo jail cell block attendant charged with animal cruelty

A Buffalo, N.Y. jail cell block attendant hired by the Buffalo Police Department faces felony animal cruelty charges after being arrested on Saturday in connection with dog fighting suspicion reports

Four malnourished dogs were removed from Shannon Richardson's Erb Street home along with equipment commonly used to train dogs for fighting.

Authorities were called because of suspicious activity at Richardson's home.

The dogs are now in the care of Erie County SPCA.

Richardson, 34, has been suspended pending an investigation of the charges.
