See also

Buff Guide is an unofficial guide to Texas nudist destinations. Efforts are made to contact to nudist clubs for the most accurate, up to date information but in the absence of a response, the information presented is obtained primarily from club websites. Contacting a club or business ahead of a planned visit is always recommended to clarify policies.

DFW Sun Club

DFW or The Metroplex is how residents refer informally to the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas greater metropolitan area. DFW has a population of 6,526,548, covers 12 Texas counties and encompasses some 9,286 square miles in the region known locally as North Central Texas.

The cities of Dallas and Fort Worth are the two largest cities of the Metroplex. There are 11 others cities with populations of at least 100,000 and numerous other cities and towns with populations of 99,000 or less that are part of the greater metropolitan area.

DFW Sun Club is a non-landed (or travel club) which means the club does not own property or have permanent facilities for club activities. Non-landed clubs typically meet at the private homes of members for parties, host occasional group outings to local landed clubs and sponsor trips to nudist destinations in the United States and beyond.

Although the club listing at the American Association for Nude Recreation website shows it to be located in Fort Worth within area code 76155, inclusion of DFW as a part of its name suggests that DFW Sun Club welcomes nudists from throughout the entire Metroplex for membership. It isn't known when the club was founded. Based on information from the club website, the site was last updated in October 2013 and the club appears active.

Getting there

As a non-landed club, DFW Sun Club does not own any property, operate a resort or have any permanent physical facilities. The club meets at the private homes of members and according to the club website occasionally organizes group outings to local landed nudist clubs and nudist destinations in Mexico. Information on the date and specific location of club meetings and activities must be obtained directly from the club.

When to go

According to the club website, during the summer months (May-September), DFW Sun Club normally meets every weekend, usually on Saturday. During the winter months (October-April) the club meets for themed indoor parties around holidays and significant events such as; Halloween, Christmas, New Year's, Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine's Day, Spring Equinox, etc.

During the summer months, the club schedules pool parties, barbeques and the like at the private homes of members. Members meet for parties indoors during the cooler months. The club sponsors occasional group outings to local landed nudist clubs and resorts. Activities vary based on meeting site, facilities available and season.

Food and drink

Dining is by pot-luck dinners at club events. Members or couples are expected to prepare and bring a dish of food to the parties to be shared among the group. Typically a non-landed club or designated host provides non-alcoholic beverages and members are expected to make a donation to defray the costs. The club permits moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages at parties on a B.Y.O.B. basis.

The outdoors

During the summer months the club meets for pool parties in the backyards of private homes of members which allows for outdoor nudity, sunbathing and swimming. All local Dallas area clubs have outdoor facilities which allows for outdoor nudist activities during club sponsored outings.

DFW Sun Club is affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation, Southwestern Region. The club is listed on the association's website.

Membership and guests

According to the club website, DFW Sun Club welcomes couples for membership and couples as guests to club events. Singles are allowed to attend club events as guests if invited and vetted by a club member in good standing. All guests must attend at least three club parties or events before being considered for membership.

All guests must provide the club with a signed DFW Sun Club Code of Conduct Agreement form, available on the website, before being allowed to attend club parties and events.

No information is provided on the club website about whether out of town nudists are permitted to attend club parties and events. Contact the club directly for that information.

Dues and fees

There is no information on the website about whether membership with the American Association of Nude Recreation is required as a condition of membership with DFW Sun Club. The policy varies among non-landed clubs. According to the website the club does collect local dues but the amount is not given.

All event attendees, including guests, are expected to contribute to defraying party host costs at a rate of $3 per person or $5 per couple.

Costs associated with group outings to landed clubs and resorts are the responsibility of individual members and guests.

Buff stuff

DFW Sun Club represents itself as a club that practices wholesome, non-sexual social nudity in an environment of acceptance and respect for others. Based on the club code of conduct, overt sexual activity, exhibitionism and voyeurism are unwelcome at club events. That is in line with expectations for clubs affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation and that embrace the association's principles and standards.

With limited exceptions, parents are welcome to bring their children to American Association for Nude Recreation affiliated landed clubs but sometimes non-landed clubs do not allow children at parties held at the homes of members. Contact the club directly to determine the club policy. Members are not allowed to bring pets to club events. See the club code of conduct for complete details with respect to rules, policies and etiquette.
