There is a formula that will help you decorate your dream bedroom. Design can become overwhelming with all the details involved, but it is a journey. Start with what you know. What colors do you like? Color can be very powerful, so ask yourself do I want to wake up to this color every day? Keep in mind, small burst of color can achieve the same impact. Try to keep the more permanent items neutral, bring in color and pattern with the items that can be easily adapted to your ever changing moods.
Look at magazines, design shows, websites that show photos of dream rooms. Pick out all the ones you like. You will notice similarities. It might be the style of furniture, the simplicity, the colors, the pattern or a mixture of it all. Now you are on to something.
You are ready to create your list. What do you need to get make your dream bedroom come true. We have established you might need paint unless your room in already a perfect color. Now what pieces of furniture? A nightstand, desk, T.V. table, lamps, art, bed linens, drapes, carpet, are all possibilities for you list. Don’t give up here, this is all doable.
Your dream, your style, your list and now your budget is all a part of the process. Don’t let your budget stop you. All budgets are workable, so don’t get discouraged. If you don’t have unlimited funds, shopping and time is your friend. One item at a time, exploring all venues of shopping . Search garage sales, clearance racks, eBay, craigslist, flea markets, and consignment shops. Keep in mind, you probably will not find the piece of furniture you so love in the magazine so be open to the possibilities. Does it have the correct style, the correct size the correct budget, can it be altered to be what you want. Maybe you have to paint it, or change the knobs or even cut down the legs. Ask yourself, can you make it work?
If you are careful, patient and budget minded your perfect bedroom will come together in layers. As each layer is added, step back and look at your creation. Add, subtract and move items as you see fit. It’s your room, your dream and there are no rules that you have to follow, so make it happen for you.
