Buddy dog says stop vandalizing Kailua Beach Park (Photos)

Buddy and I were walking through the dog friendly Kailua Beach Park on Oahu and saw the ugly vandalism. Kailua Park is a place where you can walk your dog on the walking paths or throw a ball in the grass. There are plenty of shaded areas for you and your dog. The beach is dog friendly and people seem to pick up their dog poop. This is a great place to come with you pet. I have been walking Buddy here 10 years and lately there has been an increase in vandalism to the park. If you are a concerned citizen and love to have a nice park to take your dog then please be aware.

There is one problem at Kailua Beach Park and it is the constant graffiti. There is graffiti on the benches and walls in the bathroom. Graffiti on the picnic tables and walking paths. I have seen trash barrels burned. If anyone knows who is doing or sees someone doing these crimes please call the police or Crimestoppers to report.

On another evening Buddy and I saw some suspicious young men looking at the graffiti on the visible wall in the men's room and talking to each other about the graffiti as if they knew who put it there. I overheard their conversation and asked if they knew who did the graffiti. I asked them politely that if they did know who these frustrated artists were to tell them to stop destroying our park. They left in a hurry and while I did not suspect them of being the graffiti creators, I did make my presence known. I also had a large dog with me who is very protective. It is never a good idea to confront anyone who looks dangerous but as a citizen I cannot be silent. This is my neighborhood and I will not let some low life criminals take away what I value.

We need citizens to come to the park at night in teams and walk with their dogs and show our community presence. The park is well lit in most areas except for the area of the covered gazebo near the boat ramp. Bring a flashlight and some friends and lets take back our park.
