The SC urban music scene has been in need of some soul.
And now, that soul has arrived in the form of Buddy Boi, an MC out of Greenwood, SC who has released a mixtape called Soul and Struggle USA as of August 31, and this mixtape features Columbia's Lil Ru, who is a signee to Def Jam Recordings and the head of Presidential Music, on the song "Body," according to Ru's new signee, Devin Patrick. Other features include prominent urban music acts like Project Pat and Young Buck. The mixtape is hosted by DJ Burn One and DJ Wally Sparks. Project Pat is featured on the track "Money to Spend", and Buck is on "RNS".
Buddy Boi, whose real name is Ahmad Jamaal Hart, fell in love with hip-hop via LL Cool J's iconic video for the song, "I'm Bad", a staple of the 1980's. He started MC'ing at the age of 11 and was inspired by artists like Ice Cube, Too Short, 2pac, Outkast & Jay-Z. His music is full of true stories of his struggles to make it in Greenwood. Along with his label mates, he has opened for over 30 acts since his beginning, like Young Dro, Yo Gotti, Gorilla Zoe, and Plies. Ever since death of his best friend & label mate, he strives to pursue his dreams to become a national recording artist. He is the C.O.O. of Money Green Music and an artist on that label as well.
Columbia, SC, make this guy your buddy NOW!!!!
The SC music scene now has a new buddy, and soon the rest of the world will.
