The drama surrounding Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano just won’t stop. After reports surfaced stating that Schiano denies former Super Bowl MVP Dexter Jackson access to practice, the Buccaneers swiftly countered with their own version of how things went down.
But that should be the least of the team’s worries.
Some veteran players on the team have grown impatient with Schiano and his coaching methods, multiple player sources said. Schiano has been “babying” the veterans on the Buccaneers roster in various ways, one source said, and the players have not responded well to Schiano’s tactics.
Furthermore, many players on the roster are themselves starting to realize the irony that Schiano, a noted disciplinarian, is currently coaching a team that leads the NFL in penalty yards.
It appears that Schiano’s college mentality has not worked up to this point in the NFL, and sources have explained that Schiano sometimes shouts unnecessary insults at players when the media is not present.
An end to the drama doesn’t appear to be in sight, but Schiano has not lost this team just yet, sources maintain. However, he’s walking a very fine line at this point.
