'Buckwild' star Shain Gandee laid to rest: Mom says her son was a Christian

Last week, ‘Buckwild’ fans were devastated to learn that cast member Shain Gandee had passed away. The autopsies of Gandee, his uncle, and friend revealed carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death during a mudding outing. The tailpipe was likely too submerged in mud to be able to release exhaust properly. Reports circulated that the family was having trouble funding the reality star’s funeral. Producers from the show stepped up, and covered all of the expenses. He was laid to rest on Sunday, April 7, according to a Yahoo AP report that revealed details of the beloved cast member’s public day of remembrance that was full of family, friends, and fans. Gandee’s mother, Loretta Gandee told everyone in the Charleston Municipal Auditorium that her son was a proclaimed and baptized Christian.

“I know where Shain is,” said Mrs. Gandee.

Loretta Gandee said she will see her son again, and that just a month ago he said, ‘I know when I die I’m going to heaven.’

Those in attendance were encouraged to wear either camo or neon ‘Gandee Candy’ t-shirts, since Shain didn’t like to dress up. A slideshow of family photos were shown. The reality star loved four-wheelers, and anything outdoors. Neighbors of Gandee said that he had been playing in the mud since he was 5.

“The Rev. Randy Campbell told the many young people in the crowd he understands that life bombards them with difficult choices. But he urged them to follow Shain Gandee's lead and embrace their faith now, while they are energetic and engaged,” said Yahoo AP.

"This life will hand you a lot of things and call it pleasure, but there is nothing that brings greater joy to a person's heart than serving the Lord," Campbell said. "You may think at this point, you're having fun, but those days will pass,” continued Yahoo AP.

“When they do….God is all that matters,” continued Rev. Campbell.
