‘Buckwild’ called redneck ‘Jersey Shore’; destined to be MTV success

Buckwild,” MTV’s newest hit reality show has been called “coaxed, coerced, scripted, or whatever,” Reality Tea reported on Monday, Jan 8. MTV taped “Buckwild” in South Charleston, just outside the city limits of Charleston, W. Va. last spring.

Ordinarily, Beechwood Drive is a nice, quiet neighborhood, but for approximately six weeks MTV shot parts of “Buckwild” at a yellow house across the street from Melissa Whitman, a 37-year-old mother of two.

Melissa Whitman had a lot to say about the “Buckwild” cast and crew, and none of it was nice. Whitman also claimed that the production crew and foul-mouthed cast staged many aspects of the show.

“It got so bad, I’d leave the house and have to put my hands over my 5-year-old’s ears," Whitman said.

Whitman said the police were called often to the yellow house at the end of the street, but nothing ever changed. “They [the police] came up a couple of times to tell them to quiet it down, but the second the cops were gone, they [the cast of “Buckwild”] went right back to it."

Many say it is obvious that “Buckwild” is scripted and set up. After all, Anna and her friends just happened to be evicted from the house after being there for a hot minute? Shain just happened to have access to everything needed for a dump truck pool party?

Some call “Buckwild” MTV’s redneck version of “Jersey Shore,” others call “Buckwild” a cross between “Jersey Shore,” “Jackass,” and “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”

No one seems to care anymore if reality television is real, forced, fake, created, staged, scripted, set up or enhanced, as long as it remains entertaining.

Buckwild” airs Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET on MTV.
