CORINTH-- The Bucksport Bucks softball team has dominated since they moved down to class C before the 2012 season.

They came into this season as back to back state champions and with a 40 game win streak. The Bucks came into their class C semifinal contest against the Central Red Devils as the underdogs. Bucksport lost three games this season, including two against Central.

On Saturday afternoon, Bucksport proved they are the champions until someone knocks them off. Alanna Davis had two hits and four RBI, as the Bucks cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Red Devils.

Debbie Wight, Kim Nason, and Eliza Hosford recorded two hits each, while Samantha Goode pitched a complete game six hitter, walking three, and striking out eight for the Bucks.

Central started the game strong, as Becca Kelley retired the side in order, with two strikeouts during the top of the first inning. The Red Devils took the lead when Kelley ripped a run scoring double to center field.

Central held that lead until the Bucks scored three runs in the third inning. Davis had the big hit when she nailed a two run double to left center field. Wight hit a double that scored Davis for the third run of the inning. Hosford started the rally with her first of two bunt hits.

Tyler Dupont led off the top of the fourth inning with a single. She advanced to second base on a sacrifice bunt from Madysen Robichaud, and to third on a wild pitch. Dupont came around to score when Hosford put down another perfect bunt.

The Bucks put the game away with four runs in the final two innings. That was plenty of run support for Goode, who seemed to get stronger as the game went on. Goode threw 118 pitched (74 strikes) and strikeout the final batter of the game on a devastating change up.

Brianna Bires reached base four times, with one hit, three walks, and one stolen base from the lead off spot for the Bucks. Hosford provided the lineup with balance as she reached base three times, scored two runs, and had one RBI from the number nine spot in the order.

Bucksport (15-3) will face Calais in the regional final at Brewer high school on Tuesday. Calais is 18-0 and they have outscored their opponents 245-13 this season.

Kelley strikeout eight in a complete game effort for the Red Devils. Tiffany Smith recorded two hits, including a double. Smith also draw a walk. Central finishes the season with a 14-4 record.
