Buckminster Fuller’s simple, yet profound, disciplines provide a critical template for anyone who wants to make a difference with her or his life or just make a change. He spent 56 years consciously developing these disciplines, which evolved from his knowledge of Nature’s Generalized Principles, and none is more significant than …
We all know this to be true. The instant we commit to a new project, everything seems to change, and the minute we enter into a new relationship, the world seems different.
The essence of Bucky’s inspired vision is, however, doing what you want to do. Few of us follow in his footsteps of doing exactly what we want to do all the time regardless of what society tells us or how much we will be paid. Few of us have the courage to even consider just doing what we want for an hour or two every day, much less for our entire lives. And few of us would
and take on making the world work for everyone as Bucky did in 1927 and continued to consciously do until his death in 1983.
We can, however, experience the supposed magic of this type of activity at any point in our lives. All we need to do is begin doing what we want to do be it surfing, flower arranging or ending world hunger. Then, we have the opportunity to be conscious of changes, and we can watch as our “different kind of life” spontaneously emerges.
It may not be what we expected. It may be much better. Regardless, it will be new, unique and provide us with the challenges and joys that living full out offers us all. This is what Bucky Fuller consciously did for 56 years, and his life was definitely one of great contribution, success and joy.
May we all find and live our true bliss and passion.
