Buckingham Fountain springs back to life.

Chicago has few signs of spring. Thanks to global warming the robins never even leave so they cannot return. While other places welcome the arrival of warm weather, we settle for the simple lack of bitter cold. The green grass and new leaves do not show up until well into May. But we do have the return of the iconic Buckingham Fountain every spring. Seeing the jet of water peeking out over the tops of the trees in Grant Park signals that winter has finally left us and warm weather will soon be returning. One of the saddest things to see in the winter is the hearty tourist, braving Chicago’s cold and wind, seeking our famous fountain only to view it barren, left to image how spectacular it must be when it is on. With the water turned on and a jet of water shooting almost 150 feet into the air with either Lake Michigan or the Chicago skyline as a back drop, it makes for a spectacular sight.
