A new brewpub opened in central Ohio at 1 pm on Superbowl Sunday (February 5). It is located at Buckeye Lake (naturally) at 5176 Walnut Road. Buckeye Lake Brewery is about a half hour east of downtown Columbus, just south of I-70 at the Hebron Road exit.
Owner, Rich Hennosy worked at Colorado Boy Pub & Brewery and came back to Ohio to open his own place, assisted by local homebrewer Mike Byrne.
They have six taps and the initial offerings include a malty Irish Red Ale, a Blonde Ale with Saaz hops, and an American Pale Ale, as well as a tap dedicated to draft root beer. They plan to continue adding styles to fill out their available taps, with a stout planned next.
In addition to draft pours, growler and keg sales, they also have food available at the pub. Their Facebook page pictures a yummy-looking panini with blue potato chips. They reportedly will also offer a selection of local wines, in keeping with their tagline of “Drink Local. Drink Better.”
The pub will be open 4-9 pm weekdays and 4-10 pm on weekends.
