Are Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman "Dirty Old Men"? Maybe.
Good news for the three dozen people who were fans of "The Bucket List": stars Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson are (maybe) getting the band back together for a new movie called "Dirty Old Men". Has there ever been a more fitting title for a Jack Nicholson movie? The Comedy Examiner's got all the details you could possibly kind of want to read, so carry on, my gentle Examiner readers...
For the people that saw "The Bucket List" and enjoyed it, today's potential comedy casting news will come as nothing but good news. For the rest of us, it's a chance for two of our favorite actors to get it right this time. Here's hoping!
The Hollywood Reporter is running a report that has the following information to share on "Dirty Old Men":
The script, which had a working title of "Dirty Old Men," revolves around an aging playboy who finally meets the love of his life and his best friend and wingman for the past 40 years (Freeman) who does everything to break up the new couple. The tone is described as similar to "Wedding Crashers" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
The Comedy Examiner received an email from a reader with this news with an attached link to the Hollywood Reporter story. This submitter seemed to think that Nicholson was locked into the picture with Freeman, but THR says:
The studio would love to have Jack Nicholson reteam with Freeman on the film; the pair starred in Warners' 2007 hit comedy "The Bucket List." Nicholson is not attached to the project but is aware of it.
So, what we have here is Morgan Freeman agreeing to star in "Dirty Old Men", and Warner Brothers really, really wanting Jack Nicholson to get involved. The guy that directed the Steve Carrell vehicle "Get Smart", Peter Segal, is slated to direct "Dirty Old Men". Stay tuned to the Comedy Examiner for more on this film as it develops, and be sure to sound off in the comments section below: do you wanna see Morgan Freeman and Nicholson together again on film, or was once enough? We wanna hear your opinions, so get to commenting, commenters!
