Buck I St Pat delivers her first foal

Buck I St Pat, three-time Trotting Mare of the Year, delivered her first foal--a filly by Donato Hanover, on Thursday morning, Jan. 24 at Hanover Shoe Farm in Pennsylvania.

Buck I St Pat, who earned over $2.3 million in purses and won 51 of 106 career starts, was coupled with the 2007 Horse of the Year earlier last season. The gestation period for horses is 11 months.

Co-owner Howard Taylor said mother and daughter are doing fine.

“I’m excited,” said Taylor, who owns Buck I St Pat with Edwin Gold, Abraham Basen and Ron Fuller. “I’m going to run over to Hanover and see her. My mom (Judy) is passing out cigars.”

During her career Buck I St Pat won two Breeders Crown finals, the Armbro Flight, the Classic Series final, the Conway Hall, the American-National and two Maxie Lee Memorial titles.

“I haven’t thought of a name yet,” Taylor said. “They said she’s a real good looking filly. Hopefully we have another Buck I.

“Maybe,” he added, “that’s not a bad name.”
