Fashion Blogger Susie Bubble has teamed up with Shini Park of Park and Cube to create an exclusive exhibition of London streetstyle for W Hotels. Although the show is about London, and celebrates the opening of a new W in Leicester Square, the exhibit will be shown at their location here in New York's fabled Times Square Living Room space. Photographs were taken by Park, with captions by Bubble.
Style Bubble is the fashion blog started by London-based Susanna Lau (whose nickname is Bubble) that took the fashion world by storm. Her funky, self-possessed style translated into thousands of hits per day, and she became one of the first wave of bloggers swept up into mainstream consciousness. Style sites like New York Magazine's the Cut and Fashionista.com began talking about her, and she became the perfect example of how a simple blog can become a viable business.
Shini Park takes starkly beautiful photographs for her blog Park and Cube. A trained graphic and web designer, she brings a technical perfection to a medium that too often rests on badly lit, lo-res images. The attention to detail in photographing accessories and clothing engage the viewer immediately, with colors jumping off of the screen.
London is a lot like New York, in that the lifestyle is urban and centers around cement streets and a public transportation system. Like New York, the people in the street are aggressively well dressed, turned out in clothing from high-street shops mixed with thrift store finds or couture. Boots is their Duane Reade, stocked up with beauty finds from companies like Bourjois. The exhibition should be a good way to inspire yourself to expand outside the New York comfort zone of head to toe black and try new things.
The exhibition cocktail reception will be hosted by Susie Bubble on February 9th from 7 to 9pm, and is RSVP only. However, you can respond via facebook. Bubble + Cube: A View of London Style will be on view at the Times Square W Hotel, in the Living Room, until February 14th and will be open to the public.
