The UTSA Soccer season keeps sliding away as they suffered yet another 1-0 loss as Louisville managed a 1-0 win over the Roadrunners on Sunday afternoon.
Unlike their previous efforts this one was perhaps lucky not to be more as the Roadrunners were thoroughly outplayed by the Cardinals.
It was a frantic start from Louisville who looked dangerous early but some solid defense from UTSA, who looked to play a high line to catch the Cardinals offside will Bubba Makela put in an impressive match between the sticks.
UTSA did get chances on the counter with Charlotte Husoe, Alexis Alaniz and Laylla Da Cruz all having chances in the first half but they were little more than half chances as Louisville dominated the match.
Makela was huge for UTSA in the 27th minute as she denied three chances all coming from corners to keep UTSA level denying Devyn Ciotti's service any reward.
The match became a more midfield battle in the dying stages of the first half, but the Cardinals always seemed in control as the teams went to the break scoreless.
Louisville continued to impress early in the half with Charlyn Corral and Shannon Dennehey putting in solid chances for the Cardinals but not finding the net.
At the hour mark UTSA started to take charge with Sabrina Gonzalez managing three solid chances but the Roadrunners were consistently frustrated by Paige Brown who denied them while they were having their own period of dominance.
That period of dominance lead to Louisville waking up and in the 76th minute the Cardinals had a penalty which Corral stepped up to take only for an impressive Makela to guess correctly and deny the goal, giving UTSA hope of getting something out of the match.
UTSA responded with two chances of their own with Happy Orere-Amadu surely disappointed to not get her header on Husoe's corner on target.
Five minutes after the penalty miss Louisville had their goal as Christine Exeter was able to make an impressive run and get in behind Makela and bury the chance for the winning goal.
That was really the last chance of the match as both sides were unable to create real chances in the final ten minutes as the midfields really struggled to get balls forward for the strikers.
