The Toledo Walleye announced today that right wing Bryan Ewing has been assigned to the squad from the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL. Ewing joins the already strong Walleye offense as Jonathan Carlsson, who joined the team just about a week ago, returned to Rockford to recover from an injury.

Ewing comes off a highly successful rookie season in the ECHL in which he tallied 43 goals and 48 assists with the Wheeling Nailers, leading the team in nearly every statistical column. His 91-point season earned him both a selection to the All-Star Game as well as ECHL Rookie of the Year honors.

Prior to his time in the ECHL, Ewing played four seasons at Boston University in the NCAA. Although plagued by shoulder injuries, he led the team in game-winning goals, plus contributed to their power play unit. His statistically-best season season came in 2007-08 when he added 17 goals and 26 assists to lead the team to the semifinals of the Hockey East tournament.

Ewing joined the Walleye late last night in Florida where they are in town to play a three-game series with the Florida Everblades. The two teams previously met on the Walleye opening weekend, with Toledo taking two of the three games.
