Bryan Adams’ new baby girl: She’s his ‘cup of tea’

Rocker Brian Adams and Alicia Grimaldi have new baby – they welcomed their second daughter this week – and the little girl has a special name. She’s called Lula RosyLea, partly after a classic rock song, “Be-Bop-A-Lula,” reports Daily Mail on Friday, Feb. 15.

The second part of curious name is a play on words, British style. “My second daughter Lula RosyLea arrived at tea time this week,” Brian Adams announced. “The name Lula comes from Gene Vincent‘s 1958 song ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula’ and Rosylea is a play on the expression 'a rosie lee' which is cockney rhyming slang in London for ‘a cup of tea’.'

It’s a cockney game, to make up expressions that rhyme with ordinary items, and then substitute the new phrase for the original words. It certainly keeps tourists guessing.

The name for Brian Adams’ baby makes perfect sense, he goes on. “She was born in London and... she's my cup of tea.” The Adams/Grimaldi couple call their first daughter “Bunny” because she was born during the Easter holidays, so the idea is sort of a theme. Who knows what they might plan next.

Brian Adams is a Canadian rocker whose most popular time period was the 1980s, but he moved on to ballads and movie themes in later years. He is best known for “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You.” He also does professional photography.

Brian Adams and Alicia Grimaldi live in London. Alicia is a trustee of the rock star’s charity, the Bryan Adams Foundation.
