Bryan Adams is coming!!!

Bryan Adams is coming! Bryan Adams is coming!

That's what many Canadian fans of the venerable home grown rocker are shouting these days, as Adams has announced plans for his first cross-Canada tour in lo, these past 20 years.

Bryan Adams is coming! Bryan Adams is coming!

But only if you live in one of the 20 Canadian cities singled out by Adams as designated tour stops.

Bryan Adams is coming! Bryan Adams is coming!

But not if you live in New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon or Nunavit.

But enough nit-picking. Bryan Adams is coming! And that enough should be cause for celebration by many.

Born on the 5th of November, 1959, Adams lived a peripatetic existence in his youth, as his father was a Canadian diplomat. It wasn't until 1973 that the Adams family settled in the lower mainland area of British Columbia.

In his early teens, Adams picked up his first guitar, learned to play and sing, and reportedly dropped out of high school in order to play music in nightclubs scattered all over the map. Legend has it that he replaced singer Nick Gilder in the Vancouver band SWEENEY TODD, who had a big international rock hit in the mid-seventies with "Roxy Roller." Gilder left the group after the success of "Roxy" and went on to crash the music charts big time with his "Hot Child in the City" single.  Sweeney Todd, even with Adams as their lead vocalist, never quite regained their hit making stature, and now apparently some of the former members are appearing once in a while with Gilder, billing themselves as "Nick Gilder and the Sweeney Todd Group."

But we digress.

After recording a couple of albums in the late seventies and early eighties, Adams hit it big in 1983 with "Straight from the Heart" from his "Cuts like a Knife" album. Bryan Adams has been successfully recording ever since and, according to one source at least, his best-selling release has been "Reckless", which came out in November of 1984 and has sold millions upon millions of copies.

But back to the upcoming tour. Adams will perform 20 shows in 20 Canadian cities. He'll begin with an appearance on April 11th of this year at the Mile One Centre in St. John's Newfoundland, and wrap things up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on the 22nd of June.

According to some sources, Adams tour will be a "full-blown arena-rock affair” with some tickets apparently being priced as low as twenty dollars each.

Adams will play his home-town show in Vancouver on the 16th of June at the Rogers Arena.

Bryan Adams is coming!  But you knew that already.
