On Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6, 2013, the town of Brunswick, Maryland will be celebrating the 30th Annual Railroad Days. It is a festival where the town celebrates its railroading heritage. The streets will be filled with vendors and entertainment from area bands. Children can enjoy a kiddie train ride, clowns, train crafts, pumpkin painting, face painting, artists, and much more. There will also be model train exhibits throughout the town.
Of course, what would a railroad festival be without a ride on a train? Yes, Marc Trains will be giving hour long rides through the mountains to the town of Duffields, West Virginia and back which includes a run through the Harper’s Ferry Tunnel. Tickets are $11.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 3 to 12 and seniors over 60. Children under 3 are free. Trains depart from the historic train depot at 1:00pm and 3:00pm on both days. Tickets can be purchased at the depot.
The town of Brunswick is located in southern Frederick County along the Potomac River and is easily accessible from U.S. 15 by way of Maryland Route 424 West and U.S. 340 by way of Maryland Route 17 South. It is about an hour from the Capital Beltway. Follow the signs to the Marc Station for parking. Be advised of street closures as you drive through the town.
