BRUNSWICK---The Brunswick Dragons field hockey team enters the 2014 season as a young team with a lot of enthusiasm.

"As a coach in a building year, you learn and you grow. That is what this team has down in the off-season, Brunswick coach Karin Iuzzolino said. "Many girls attended camps, clinics, and leagues to improve their basic skills and their level of play and let me tell you it is working. This team has come into this season conditioned and hungry to win."

The Dragons finished with a record of 1-13 last season. They will be looking to improve on that record with a more experienced group that will be playing with confidence heading into the season.

"I am extremely impressed with the level of conditioning that all of my team members came in at the first day of preseason. They have exceeded my expectations,"Iuzzolino said. "We have improved on our ability since last season to move the ball fluidly across the field and to the goal. This season we have several team members who are not afraid of scoring and make it a point to ensure the ball crisply makes it into the goal."

The Dragons may be in rebuilding mode, but with a solid young group, the wins should not be far behind.

"I believe that this is the start to improved wins for Brunswick Field Hockey,"Iuzzolino said. "We still have a young team, but they have improved tremendously in the off-season by attending clinics, camps, and playing in leagues. This young team is hungry to prove themselves and rack up some solid wins."

Brunswick will be looking to get back to the basic of field hockey.

"My expectations for this season are to improve our record, model sportsmanship on and off the field, and get back to the basics of field hockey. You can be as fancy as you want on the field with skills, but the true basics of field hockey are what win games,"Iuzzolino said. "This year is all about getting back to the heart of the sport and building the fluidity of this team to be consistent and strong."

Brunswick will host Edward Little to open the season. They will follow that up with trips to Cony and Lewiston.
