January 1st is Bloody Mary Day. That shouldn't be too surprising considering New Year's Eve is such a huge party night. The Bloody Mary can take over in the wee hours of the morning or at your New Year's brunch.
Mimosa's are another popular brunch drink. They are perfect for New Year's brunch since most people have champagne on New Year's Eve. Plan to have extra on hand for your brunch drinks. Here are two easy recipes for your consideration:
- 3 oz of tomato juice
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 3 drops Tabasco sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- juice from 1 lemon
- sea salt, pepper, celery salt
Rub lemon around rim of glass, dip in sea salt. Add ice to glass. Mix vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice and Tabasco sauce. Salt, pepper, and celery salt can be added to taste. Garnish with a celery stalk if desired.
To make Mimosas, you can go very simple. One cup of chilled champagne, mixed with about 1/2 cup of orange juice. Triple Sec can be added, but is optional. You can also add about a teaspoon of sugar if you don't use Triple Sec. Garnish with fresh orange slice if desired. Enjoy!
