With the woes of the offensive line still not settled, the Denver Broncos acquired guard John Moffitt yesterday via a trade with the Seattle Seahawks. Moffit was traded to Cleveland on Monday, but was said to not have passed his physical.
Moffitt was sent from Seattle in exchange for defensive tackle Sealver Siliga. The 26-year-old guard out of Wisconsin has started in 15 games for the Seahawks in two seasons. He has undergone operations on his elbow and knee in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The Broncos must have been willing to take a chance on Moffitt as they have injury concerns of their own on the offensive line.
The trade between the Seahawks and Browns was voided yesterday shortly into the training session. Moffitt was pulled off the field by Cleveland’s coaching staff before he started warming up. The player Moffitt was traded for, defensive end Brian Sanford, will return to the Browns.
Moffitt joins the plethora of Broncos’ front-lineman fighting for starting jobs. The current depth chart lists Zane Beadles and Louis Vasquez at the starting guard positions with C.J. Davis and Chris Kuper as the backups.
