Millinocket, ME- The Stearns Minutemen boys basketball team hosted their rivals from Schenck high school Wednesday night and came away with their fifth straight victory.
Junior Seth Brown scored 17 points to lead the Minutemen to a 62-57 victory over the Wolverines.
Riley Whitney scored 15 for Stearns. Marc Morneault chipped in with 13. Kyle McVey added 10 points, Lucas McLain contributed seven points.
Stearns outscored Schenck 28-21 in the fourth quarter
Stearns (7-2) currently sits fifth in the class C heal point standings. The Minutemen will next play on Saturday, January 12th when they travel to Searsport for a scheduled 2:30 p.m. contest.
Derrick Tanous scored a game high 18 points to lead the Wolverines. Ryan Macleod and Ryan Leavitt also finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Aaron Beaumont chipped in with eight points, Jon Chaisson added six. Brandon Danforth finished off the scoring for the Wolverines with two points.
Schenck (3-6) currently sits at 16th and one place out of the final tourney spot in the class D eastern Maine heal point standings.
They will next take the floor on Monday, January 14th when they host Penquis for a scheduled 7 p.m. start.
