The School Board of Broward County approved the ratified Collective Bargaining Agreements between the District and the Federation of Public Employees (FOPE) Food Service, Clerical, Maintenance/Transportation/Facilities/Security Specialists and Campus Monitor Groups; Broward Teachers Union – Education Support Professionals (BTU-ESP) and the Police Benevolent Association, (PBA) according a statement by Cathleen Brennan, public information officer for the Broward County School District on June 10.
Employees represented by the FOPE, BTU-ESP and PBA will receive a 2.5 percent salary increase retroactive to January 1, 2014. Employees with the Confidential Office Personnel Association and the Educational Support Management Association of Broward will receive the Board approved salary increases. FOPE Food Service employees will receive a one-time bonus of $300, according to Brennan.
Superintendent Robert Runcie was quoted in the June 10 release as saying, “We value the hard work and dedication of our non-instructional employee groups. “The success of our students would not be possible without all of our dedicated employees working together to create high-quality educational opportunities for our students,” said Runcie. “At least the teachers and other professionals who serve students are getting a small pay increase,” said Jerome Taylor.
